About Poverty Alliance

Poverty Alliance Welfare Trust is a national non-governmental non-profit organisation established in Pakistan under The Trust Act 1882. Our mission is to eliminate human rights violations in Pakistan by advancing human rights education and awareness and the improvement of the rights of women, minorities and other disadvantaged or marginalized persons or groups across Pakistan inclusive of TDP’s, IDP’s, and refugees. We will work to promote education, health, rehabilitation, alleviating human suffering, eradication of illiteracy & poverty, and rural development through the establishment of schools, colleges, hospitals, skill development centers, and women welfare institutions.

 

North Waziristan Agency Rehabilitation Initiative (UNDP)

PAWT-UNDP initiated the restoration and rehabilitation of damaged community infrastructure of village Shahzada Kot Upper by launching the FATA Transition and Recovery Programme (FTRP). The streets were rebuilt with UNDP and PAWT support.

PAWT has partnered with UNWFP to provide access to returnees of North Waziristan with sufficient, safe, nutritious food to maintain a healthy and active life. The food will be distributed through establishment of humanitarian hubs.

UNDP-PAWT Recovery Programme South Waziristan

 

 

PAWT has partnered with UNDP to provide immediate assistance to the people affected during the militancy situation in SWA. The primal focus is to address their livelihoods through rapid restoration and enable them to meet basic needs. Cash for Work activities would promote long-term self-sufficiency.

PAWT WASH project in Upper Orakzai Agency funded by

UNOCHA-PHPF

 

PAWT initiated WASH project funded by UNOCH-PHPF in the schools and health centers of Upper Orakzai Agency for the returnees. The main aim of the project was to help out the local Government in rehabilitation of schools and health centers. Under this project (funded by UNOCHA-PHPF), PAWT installed 18 new hand pumps, constructed 30 latrines and repaired 10 existing hand pumps in schools and health centers. Besides work done in schools and health centers, most of the repair work was also done in the community of Upper Orakzai.

PAWT Shelter project in Central Kurram Agency funded by UNOCHA-PHPF

Kurram Agency is one of the beautiful places of FATA Pakistan. PAWT launched shelter project at Kurram Agency in collaboration with UNOCHA-PHPF to help out local Government in restoration of lives of the people. During operation between militants and Pak-army, the general public assets were destroyed. More importantly; the houses of the people were destructed & partially damaged during this whole scenario. After repatriation process, most of the people were living in tents provided by UNHCR. PAWT taking the matter on priority, observing the fact of scary winter season in the area, proposed UNOCHA-PHPF to provide at least one room shelter to the people for survival.
