UNDP-PAWT FATA Recovery Programme South Waziristan

PAWT has partnered with UNDP to provide immediate releif assistance to the people affected as a result of militancy situation in SWA. The prime focus and goal is to promote social cohesion, restoration of livelihoods through activities as improving community infrastructure, facilitate rehabilitation, and training programs in Sararogha Tehsil of South Waziristan Agency. Poverty Alliance Welfare Trust (PAWT) signed an agreement with UNDP to launch community resilience program in target villages of South Waziristan (SWA). The program will include 15 schemes for Community Physical Infrastructure (CPI), an establishment of more than 50 Community Organizations (CO), training sessions on livelihood as per need and 100 livelihood Cash Grants. All mentioned activities are intended to be completed in two months period. The gender participation ratio will be 3:7 (female:male).

Program objectives:

• Improve community infrastructure;
• Provide and improve livelihood opportunities to the target community;
• Provide short-term employment.
• Contribute towards the early recovery of people in affected areas through rehabilitation, community physical infrastructure development and skill improvement through training exercises;
• Create employment through Cash For Training (CFW);
• Support the vulnerable through unconditional cash assistance. Definition of vulnerable: widowed household, family head a female, families with more children and elderly members, people with disabilities and orphans.
